On January 11, 2025, the lunar nodes ingressed into the signs of Virgo (South Node) and Pisces (North Node). The nodes started their 18-month journey and will leave on July 27, 2026. What does this mean for us personally and collectively? To understand the meaning, we need to know what the lunar nodes archetypally mean. We also need to learn what the signs of Virgo and Pisces archetypally mean.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A COLLECTIVE VIEW AND A PERSONAL VIEW OF THE TRANSIT EXPLANATION:

This transit chart reflects the 18-month cycle that was initiated on January 11, 2025. This chart speaks to the overall theme for the entire collective unconscious during this cycle. This chart will reflect the ongoing evolutionary core themes for humanity. It will do so on any day a chart is cast during this cycle. Each planetary cycle and transit held within this 18-month nodal cycle will reflect different dynamics surfacing for us to work on.
When you place these transiting charts within a natal chart, it reveals the significance of the transits for a person, country, or organization that the transiting chart is utilized with through synastry or a bi-wheel. Pluto’s transit, along with the transit of this nodal cycle speaks to the bottom-line core issues we face on collective and personal levels. The lunar nodes reflect the reliving of prior issues that are outworn but can feel comfortable because of the familiarity of them. The nodes also reflect the need to make new choices and what those choices are.
If you were to put your own natal chart in the center of a bi-wheel, you see the core themes of evolution. These themes exist and are ongoing for yourself. You would notice this in the houses where these planets, nodes, and luminaries fall. You would also see what they are aspecting in your own natal chart. This would include your own natal planets that rule the transiting nodes.
THE ARCHETYPAL MEANING OF THE TRANSITING NODES- THEIR PURPOSE AND HOW TO TRACK THIS IN YOUR OWN CHART
I want to focus on how to use this in your own natal chart. This is so you can observe yourself if you wish throughout this nodal cycle. It is important to remember that we are talking about the transiting LUNAR nodes. This means that we are dealing with issues that are emotional in nature and that are based around how we are inwardly secure. What is known and familiar. In order for us to evolve, we must experience emotional dynamics, because simply put, we are consciousness that evolves through emotion. Therefore, the transiting lunar nodes are going to reflect the past emotional dynamics that we are needing to resolve at this particular time (South Node). It is also going to reflect the new choices that need to be made in order to continue to evolve (North Node). The last dynamic we recognize is the need to confront the past (South Node). This confrontation is necessary to make new choices (North Node). The nodes are in opposition to each other. This is interesting. It shows us the interface between the past and the future in the present. The present is seen with your own natal moon and how you as a Soul emotionally evolve through these transits.
An opposition asks us to oppose or throw off “something.” You can throw off the past by making new choices. Alternatively, you can throw off the future by opposing the new choices. The latter creates resistance and will have to be dealt with again at a different time. Why do you think there are nodal cycles with nodal returns and so on? We get many different chances to re-experience key dynamics in order to make a new choice that helps our ongoing evolutionary journey. As we are evolving there are different layers of this that need to be confronted over time. I liken it to a baby learning to crawl, then hobble, then walk.
Now let’s look at how this works in your own natal chart. You would first look at the transiting lunar south node and where it falls in your own chart by house. These will be the core apparent issues of the past. They are reflected by not only the house it falls in, but also the sign. They may come from this lifetime or others. They are brought to the surface of consciousness to resolve them. You would then examine all the aspects involving the transiting south node of the moon in your natal chart. Then you would move to planetary ruler of the TRANSITING node that is in YOUR chart. Right now, that would be the need to look at your natal Mercury. Then look at the aspects it’s making in your own chart. This helps you see further what is being brought up to resolve. It also shows how you are using the nodal ruler in your natal chart. This is accomplished through triggering emotional dynamics of the past. These dynamics can occur internally, externally, or both.
Next, you are going to look at the transiting North Node and where it falls in your own natal chart. Look at what it aspects in your own chart, through the planets, houses, and signs. This shows you the direction you are meant to evolve towards in order to make new choices. Then you find the transiting North Node’s planetary ruler in your OWN natal chart. This means your natal Neptune. This occurs because the transiting North Node is in Pisces. Your natal Neptune now reflects the types of choices you can make. It also highlights the circumstances that can trigger your evolution through reliving the past and making new choices.
THE ARCHETYPAL NATURE OF THE TRANSITING SOUTH NODE IN VIRGO AND THE NORTH NODE IN PISCES
SOUTH NODE IN VIRGO:
With the South Node now in the sign of Virgo, collectively and individually, we will be experiencing core themes of the past that have to deal with Virgo issues. This is done on an emotional level, either through the collective conscious or through your personal conscious.
The general underlying core themes and archetypes of Virgo will be seeded into consciousness. This means that past experiences and issues dealing with the need to improve, purge, and purify emotional content comes into play. Virgo is solution based and practical. On the flip side, it can reflect the opposite of this, which is excuse making, denial or denying, and victimization. When we deny reality and make excuses at some point if it has become a pattern, we then experience crisis. Crisis is a Virgo phenomenon. Crisis serves the purpose to get us back on track to self-improving. It does this through the Mercury (its planetary ruler) function. Mercury will gather all the information and then it will internalize it through analyzing and introspection. This is in order to come to a deeper understanding of said information. This information that comes up during this time period is meant to be used to self-improve.
Virgo induces humility through self-analysis, on the one hand we feel the Piscean polarity pull; sensing that there is something else to strive for and to envision, yet knowing that there is work to be done to get there. Through this dynamic it helps us to understand what needs to be improved upon. The crux can be where we don’t do the practical and necessary steps it takes to get there. We make excuses or we procrastinate. This can eventually lead to a cycle of crisis.
Virgo also teaches us lessons about not denying reality. Issues around not acknowledging the situation that is ongoing in one’s life can come into the consciousness during this time. This can also confront us if we have an ideal or belief about our situation that we don’t want to let go of (Pisces polarity). It makes me think of when you are in a relationship with someone and you don’t like what is going on, but you see the “potential” of the other and make excuses for the millions of things that aren’t working. Eventually what has been in front of you all along is confronting you through crisis so you can no longer deny it. This can be anything, relationships, health, home, habits, work, money, etc.
When there are themes of victimization coming to the forefront when dealing with Virgo they are meant to be purged from the consciousness. For some during this time they can become confronted with where this is being experienced in their life. It’s important to remember that right now the collective conscious is rooted in victimization stemming from patriarchal religious, psychological, and philosophical conditioning. Victimization is very nuanced and during this nodal cycle one can become aware of where they are staying stuck within victimization. I am going to paraphrase my friend’s words after having a conversation about just this. It is a very great description of the nuance of victimization that plays out. She said, “If you find yourself going back and back to the same issue over and over again without finding a new action take, a new attitude to adopt, or change to apply, and where you find yourself out of solutions and stuck in a situation you want to go away because it’s dependent on other people, that is the root and essence of victimhood.”
A nuanced way this pattern could manifest itself is through always complaining and venting about what is going on without taking the steps to change it.
If we find ourselves in these situations it is trying to teach us the Virgo lesson to make a CHOICE and to take it one step at a time. As we do this it helps us to learn Pisces simplification. Virgo is naturally inconjunct Aries and this reflects this energy. As we take an action (Aries) we then create a reaction. Through the feedback of that action taken, we then take in new information (Virgo) that helps us to improve (Virgo).
Virgo is also about being of service. What is the use of Virgo-like self-knowledge if we don’t utilize it to help others? This can be any type of information and self-knowledge that is gleaned through prior efforts of the past and the knowledge gleaned during this time.
For some of us we may be called to be of service, whether to others in society or our community, or to be good stewards of Earth. Both dynamics are seen through the Earth trine from Virgo to Taurus and Capricorn. The crux with this dynamic for some who experience it could be where they don’t feel “good” enough or “ready” enough. This again reflects the need for self-improvement through taking it one step at a time. Create one action to move forwards that leads to another. The other dynamic with this is that we could be not using Virgo discrimination around how to be of service. We could be overexerting ourselves by being of service to the detriment of improving ourselves.
We need to remember that Virgo and Pisces are both mutable archetypes that reflect our ability to adapt to situations. If we make a Virgo-like effort the path to improvement opens up. If we stay in analysis paralysis, nothing changes.
GUILT: NATURAL (EARNED) VS. LEARNED:
NATURAL/EARNED GUILT:
Lastly, themes of guilt could be sparked during this transit. There is natural guilt and there is learned guilt. Natural guilt reflects the dynamic of causing harm and earning guilt naturally that is based on actions that are against Natural and Universal Law. As an example, abandoning or betraying someone for one’s own selfish reasons. Another example would be where we adopt belief systems and giving them meaning that creates our values that end up hurting others. One way we see this is when others adopt belief systems that create division and exclusion. Where one believes that a specific race or gender is “better than” the other and projects that onto others. Natural guilt doesn’t leave us, it always stays with us in order for us to not make that choice again.
LEARNED GUILT:
Learned guilt comes from conditioning dealing with psychological, philosophical, and religious beliefs that are not in alignment with Natural and Universal Laws. The same as natural guilt at the root. The difference occurs when we carry guilt stemming from other’s projected beliefs, psychology, and philosophies. An example of this is if you grew up in a religious household where being queer was not acceptable and you heard that queer people go to hell and they are an abomination. This can induce shame and guilt if you are queer. That something must be “wrong” with who you naturally are. LEARNED GUILT.
The point is learned guilt stems from other’s beliefs that create a need to hide or suppress who one is naturally. That can be how you express yourself, your sexuality, your gender, and the list goes on.
GUILT AND ATONEMENT:
With guilt there can be the dynamic of atonement, another Virgo archetype. Atonement has many different ways of showing up whether it be from Natural guilt of learned guilt. Atonement is a Virgo process that happens in order to purge the guilt dynamic. Essentially, each one of us creates choices and actions, and from those choices and actions we can gain guilt.
During this time we might see this dynamic pop up individually and collectively. If one has learned guilt and is reflecting atonement, as an example, they could choose to punish themselves for being the way they are. Eventually that action could create crisis and then true self-improvement would occur through releasing learned guilt. This would come by way of an alternate philosophy or psychological belief system that was in alignment with Natural Laws. Eventually they could be of service to others who experienced the same thing.
If one has natural guilt, and is reflecting atonement, this could be a time period where they decide to have a higher calling (Pisces) that counteracts the feelings of guilt and shame. As an example, if someone killed someone by drunk driving, they could go on to educate others about the importance of not drinking in driving as a way to atone and be of service.
It’s important to understand that these are some of the core underlying themes and experiences that could be seeded into consciousness through emotional confrontations. These confrontations could be on an inner emotional level, or they could be confrontations from an external trigger that forces the needed inner emotional confrontation. Ultimately, this helps us to make different choices, and these choices will be seen and indicated through the transiting lunar North Node in Pisces.
NORTH NODE IN PISCES:
With the North Node in Pisces, we are called to make new choices around many different themes. These themes will be of a past, South Node in Virgo, orientation that comes into consciousness now. Pisces wants us to reach a higher ideal through Natural and Universal Laws. Pisces asks for us to expand our conscious and to find ultimate meaning from Source. Pisces also reflects the totality of TRUTH and the ULTIMATE TRUTH. This is so we can eventually develop further into our spirituality by releasing old dynamics that perpetuate crisis (Virgo). Pisces is the archetype of visions, the visionary, and dreams. Whether that be a dream you desire to accomplish through personal efforts or a dream that you have while sleeping where you receive a message.
Pisces is consciousness and the collective unconscious. Consciousness expands when we seek to have a Natural spiritual relationship. This happens through having inner direct perceptions. Pisces also teaches and reflects to us that we are all interconnected and that our Soul and ego are unified and not separate. The simple Pisces truth is that our egoic needs and identity reflect what is already going on at a Soul level.
The North Node in Pisces reflects the dynamics that we are wanting to move towards in order to change our conscious. This means learning about unconditional love of Source, empathy for others, and the totality of Natural Laws that include giving, sharing, and inclusion. Pisces asks for faith and compassion. The North Node placement here through transit by house is also teaching us about going from Virgo deductive reasoning to Pisces inductive reasoning. The way to access this is to be in nature and to observe and take in the naturally occurring teachings. To have the direct experience in order to dissolve old structures and barriers that prevent us from being self-actualized collectively and individually. This is because Pisces also reflects the synthesis of all of the other signs in the zodiac.
Themes that we are called to move toward during this time will reflect the actual new choices that need to be made.
These choices will help us to move towards understanding and knowing an actual truth versus a belief that has been given ultimate meaning and is a distortion of Natural Law. This can be personally and collectively.
As we confront the Virgo issues of the South Node, Pisces North Node is calling us to release these past dynamics of denial, indiscriminate intake of beliefs and information, excuse making, analysis paralysis, self-defeating thoughts and patterns, unhealthy habits, and overt criticism. Pisces North Node asks for us to move towards healing, faith, compassion, inner perception, acknowledgment of the total truth, and aligning oneself with Natural Laws. As we move towards this our consciousness is restructured in a way that reflects the timeless nature of Source.
INNER SOUL WHISPERS:
Pisces and Neptune also correlate to the inner whispers of the Soul that are directly connected to Source. This reflects how we are in a co-creative process with Source. Throughout this transit we may each start to have deep insights from within ourselves that are seeded into our consciousness. These “insights” are the Soul acting like a radio signal to our ego. This signal is reflecting path that we are needing to take. It is important to listen to the inner message (Virgo) and not deny it (Virgo), especially if that message from within becomes louder and more frequent. This dynamic is teaching us about Pisces faith. If we choose to follow this internal message, it triggers a new choice to be made (North Node). This choice when made can also guide us into unknown ways of Virgo like self-improvement. It can also teach us about trusting ourselves and Source. I liken it to an inner North Star.
PURE EMOTION, SENSITIVITY & HEALING:
Pure emotion is another archetype of Pisces. Pisces is part of the water triad in the zodiac. Whereas Cancer is about our egoic structure and what nurtures us individually, Scorpio is about taking the emotional dynamics we confront and metamorphosing them. Pisces then helps us to connect to both the Cancer and the Scorpio archetype. It is the archetype of transcendence and not from a patriarchal viewpoint. Pisces transcendence speaks to transcending inner emotional limitations that have occurred through the boundaries of conditioning that are a distortion of Natural and Universal Laws.
Pisces also helps us to connect to the pure emotion of others, whether human, animal, or plant life. Pure emotion is indicative of the Universal Piscean Law that EVERYTHING is sentient. If we can decondition from the notion that it’s not, we can connect with others, animals, and plant life. It can teach us through this direct experience, and this reflects the notion of consciousness expanding.
At this time, we are called to tap into our pure emotion. This means that as the Virgo issues of the past come up there is a need to acknowledge and not deny the actual truth of our emotions. How we have been “hard-wired” up until this point. What are the patterns in your life that keep repeating? What are those emotional patterns? Pisces asks for us to sense this in order to take accountability for our own healing and to understand what needs to be healed in order for our consciousness to adapt and change.
Pisces and Neptune can trigger a deep sensitivity to our emotions that are like an arrow pointing to the choice that we need to make in order to improve. Anxiety (Virgo) can then be triggered if we don’t acknowledge the emotional content arising. Eventually this can trigger an inner crisis (Virgo) in order for us to make new choices around improving these areas. Ultimately leading to healing.
BELIEFS, TRUTH, ULTIMATE MEANING, AND DISILLUSIONMENT:
Pisces also correlates to the totality of belief structures. It also correlates to giving ultimate meaning to “something” through our ideals (Pisces) around our beliefs. If this is in fact a distortion of Natural Law, Neptune can trigger an event to confront us with TRUTH. This can be a difficult process for some because it can induce the emotion of disillusionment. Disillusionment occurs when we have denied the truth or made excuses for what is actually occurring (Virgo). Disillusionment then can create a Piscean void or loss of faith. This triggers the Virgo dynamic of crisis within and needing to analyze “why”. This then helps us to make new choices around acknowledging the truth as it occurs. This also creates Virgo like self-improvement.
Beliefs and ideals correlate to not only what we give meaning to, but also, the values that we have structured within our consciousness. Giving ultimate meaning to a person, place, thing, or situation can be catalytic through this nodal cycle in order to help us to surrender to the ultimate truth; that we are whole unto ourselves.
The other layer to this for some can be where they are confronting their own philosophies and having disillusionment around understanding it isn’t what they believed. The choice that can be triggered is around having discernment on what philosophies are actually aligned with Natural Law. Again, themes of loss of faith could arise with this. The arrow points back to improving upon the Virgo function of discrimination and then helps us move into the Piscean realms of aligning oneself and values with Universal Truths in order to expand and restructure the consciousness.
SUPREME GIVING & UNCONDITIONAL LOVE:
Pisces is the archetype of supreme giving. Throughout this nodal cycle we could be learning how to improve upon how to give and how to receive, and who to give to and who not to give to. Supreme giving is rooted in unconditional love. Love that isn’t about “if you do this, then I will give you this for MY benefit”. Virgo energy loves to be of service, but if we are not being discriminate with this dynamic of service we could find ourselves pouring from a cup that is empty. That can bring on the emotion of disillusionment. The key to learning supreme giving is to actually hear what another is needing and to watch the actions that they take. Are they aligned? Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, and this pulls in this dynamic that was seeded through the nodal cycle of Libra/Aries.
Neptune and the North Node in Pisces can trigger choices around how to give and when to give. If we project what we “think” (Virgo) someone is needing, then we can’t truly give them what they do need. When we give indiscriminately this transit can induce disillusionment and a Virgo crisis with another or with a situation. This can be triggered through the emotional dynamics of confusion (Pisces) about us and others. “I don’t know what to think anymore”.
The way to navigate this, if it arises is to improve upon discernment through taking in the information of the truth of the situation. As an example, if I am helping someone and their situation or attitude doesn’t change because they are depending on me to fix it, then I am going to give supreme giving. I am going to appear to not give. I will quit making the choice to repeat helping them in the way that I had. The key is to know it “appears” to not be giving, but in actuality it is. It gives the opportunity to improve their own situation for themselves.
SURRENDER:
Lastly, Pisces correlates to learning to surrender. Surrender to what? The TRUTH. If we are trying to control (Virgo) opinions, beliefs, facts, or outcomes we can have events triggered that teach us how to surrender to the truth. If we are getting hung up on improving others and not ourselves, focusing on others or staying busy without looking within. Trying to change others’ opinions to fit our narrative (Virgo). This cycle could trigger events that induce the feelings of inferiority. This is because there are two things wanting to occur with this situation. One is that the South Node issues of Virgo and the choices we need to make to improve are having to deal with learning Virgo humility. Sometimes that can come through the form of humiliation. The second dynamic it is teaching us in order to improve and expand upon through the Pisces function is the Natural Law of Relativity. Everyone is wired the way they are for their own reasons of evolution. We have to surrender to this fact. Not everyone is going to change at the same rate and way we individually are. This can lead to the culmination of long standing relational dynamics in order to learn the lessons of surrendering, relativity, and discrimination.
To wrap this up, I want to reiterate that Pisces is also the archetype of the totality of all the other signs in the zodiac. This North Node in Pisces can be triggering new choices around various archetypes depending on where the axis falls in your natal house. The key to remember is that no matter what is triggered, the bottom line calls for action and improvement. To understand that there is value in the effort and that when we follow that simple law, we get to truly heal and surrender to our past and flow into the future. It is a conscious choice to make the effort to do so, but as the journey unfolds the easier it flows.
with love and gratitude,
Jordyn
