KEY DATES:
*On March 2, 2025, Venus will station retrograde in the sign of Aries at 10°48′.
*It will retrograde back into the sign of Pisces on March 27th.
*Then it will station direct at 24°38′ Pisces on April 13, 2025.
*We need to remember that Venus enters its pre-shadow period on January 28th at 24°38′ Pisces because this is the spot that Venus stations direct on in April.
*Venus won’t exit its post-shadow until May 16th when it finally comes back to the same degree it stationed retrograde on in March at 10°48′ Aries. This reflects that between January 28th and May 16th, Venus will pass over the degrees between 24°38′ Pisces- 10°48′ Aries three times. These are what we call the “hot spots” for this retrograde cycle. If you have anything at these degrees Venus will be aspecting them in your own natal chart.
THE ARCHETYPAL NATURE OF VENUS RETROGRADE THROUGH TRANSIT:
Venus naturally rules Taurus and Libra. When we are looking at a Venus transit, we are looking at how the energies of Libra and Taurus are being evolved through the sign that Venus is in. This means that Venus through transit is pulling in the inner and outer expressions of herself. The inner side of Venus is Taurus, our personal relationship. How we evolve our values and needs. How we evolve our relationship to self through how we relate to ourselves. The outer expression of Venus is Libra, our relationships with others. This speaks to evolving how we relate to others. How we give and receive. Our ability to listen to others and how that needs to evolve.
Venus retrogrades the least amount of time out of all of our planets. Venus has a retrograde cycle around every 18 months.
When Venus is retrograde through transit it speaks to the archetypal nature of needing to accelerate the Venus dynamic through throwing off old dynamics. It helps us to “tune in” to ourselves and what it is we are needing to evolve within our values, needs, and how we relate. Simply put, it is helping us to evolve our orientation to relationships with ourselves and others. This is done through liberating from what no longer is working in these areas of our lives. With Venus retrograding in the signs of Aries and Pisces, it pulls in these dynamics in tandem with our inner relationship to self. Meaning, how are we actualizing Aries and Pisces from within.
Venus retrograde also has the focus on the inner expression of Venus more so than the outer. This is because if we are wanting to make changes to our orientation in relationships with others, we must first understand how to change our orientation from within. Venus retrograde asks for us to ask ourselves, “what do I value?”, “is this what I value anymore?”, “how do I become more self-reliant?”. Venus retrograde has us focusing on self-sustainment, self-reliance, self-empowerment, and how to actualize our own unique individual values. It helps us to throw off any conditioning around these areas of our lives.
The other dynamic that can occur during a Venus retrograde cycle is where we find ourselves needing to look at how we personally operate within our own external relationships. This can be a time where we realize that who we have relationships with might not be conducive with our growth. This is because Venus retrograde demands that we grow from within ourselves. If we experience ourselves doing this and yet we are in relationships with others who aren’t, it can be a time where we are deciding if we need to rebel from that existing relationship.
It can also bring in people from our past to reflect what it is we are needing to work on within ourselves, or it can be the need to reconnect with these people in order to resolve some unfinished dynamic that didn’t happen in the past. This is a retrograde function of reliving or reexperiencing the past in order to resolve it.
Lastly, Venus retrograde can help us to recover or understand what our own inner resources are and how we are meant to utilize them in a way that can help us resolve different inner dynamics correlating to our own survival. This can simply be understanding that we each carry within us unique resources that we have acquired that can help us to empower ourselves through creatively self-actualizing. This cultivates inner self-reliance.
NEPTUNE THE HIGHER OCTAVE OF VENUS:
Neptune correlates to transcendence. Neptune is the natural ruler of Pisces. Pisces, Taurus, and Libra create a YOD within the natural zodiac. This Yod speaks to our need to transcend limitations within ourselves and within our relationships. Neptune and Pisces speak to what is timeless and universal. It also correlates with Source and our Consciousness. As we evolve our inner relationship to self (Taurus side of Venus) we eventually release temporal values and integrate timeless values. This happens when we quit giving ultimate meaning outside of ourselves and then become self-sustaining through our relationship to Source. This takes a long time, evolutionary speaking as it stands within how the world is structured through its underlying values right now.
Neptune has the ability to help us to tap into our conscious awareness and to dissolve old boundaries within. These boundaries correspond to our ideals. One by one our ideals become dissolved when we experience the total truth (Neptune/Pisces). This also corresponds with dissolving temporal values rooted in ideals. Some examples are the ideals we project onto our relationships; the ideals we have concerning how we value physical materials. At some point we experience disillusionment in order to dissolve the ideal. This confronts us with the total truth. This is a universal experience and a natural progression of evolution. If you have been conditioned to value and idealize partnership with another, eventually disillusionment sets in that it is not what you thought or were taught it to be. The truth gets exposed. The truth being that we are already whole unto ourselves without the need for a partner to fulfill ourselves. We can fulfill ourselves from within. That is a timeless truth.
Through the stripping away of temporal values we then get to access divinity from within. We also get to access values that are natural and true, as opposed to illusions held within beliefs. This is how Neptune transforms Venus.
The other way that Neptune transforms Venus is through helping us understand that the ideals that we project onto others or things can be actualized from within ourselves. Its where we get to experience what we are giving meaning to from within ourselves. This happens when we find and embrace a spiritual teaching or path.
When we change our focus from projecting onto others in order to actualize to then become focused within ourselves, we access self-reliance. When this shift takes place, Venus now accesses her higher octave of Neptune. This then shifts our energy, and we then attract others who are also self-reliant and not dependent upon us. This then creates the dynamic of equal sharing and giving. Balance and harmony.
Lastly, it’s important to mention that the lunar north node is in Pisces and its ruler, Neptune, is also in Pisces. This Venus retrograde cycle will pull in the nodal axis of the moon because Neptune is the higher octave of Venus.
The lunar south node is having us relive prior dynamics in order to improve upon them. This can mean purging all things dealing with Mercury, the south nodes ruler. Purging of our thought processes, what has been learned, the information we have taken in. If it doesn’t need to be purged it could mean it needs to be improved.
The north node in Pisces speaks to the choices we need to make in order to evolve. Pisces is our pure emotion. Our pure emotion is sensed (Taurus) in our body. What we sense then evokes our perceptions (Mercury). During this time, we are going to be called to get in touch with how we have structured our thinking around beliefs, ideals, values, needs, and prior emotional experiences. As this surfaces we are called to analyze and improve upon these areas of our lives in order to understand what is actually true. With Venus retrograde being pulled into this dynamic it helps us to throw off information that isn’t resonating with our inner relationship to self. It’s also helping us learn more about ourselves in order to improve upon being self-reliant and self-sustaining from within.
VENUS RULING URANUS IN TAURUS:
With Uranus still in the sign of Taurus throughout this Venus retrograde cycle it doubles down on the function of individuation. Not only seen through Uranus but through Venus being retrograde. This speaks to the need to rebel and liberate. From what though? Anything that is getting in the way of your own self-reliance. Anything getting in the way of actualizing your individuality and uniqueness from within.
With Venus retrograde and remembering that the emphasis is on the inner expression of Venus (Taurus) we are called to utilize Uranus in Taurus to observe what is going on internally. What needs to be transformed from within. Taurus correlates to our inner listening. In order to understand what needs to be transformed through our inner relationship we are needing to listen from within ourselves. Uranus is the radio signal that is connected to our soul. To be truly self-reliant one has to be able to listen from within about one needs to do in order to evolve. This is reemphasized with Venus being retrograde and ruling Uranus. So, pay attention to what is coming into your consciousness around what feels authentic and in alignment with who you are during this time.
Venus retrograde ruling Uranus can also help us to resolve dynamics of the past where we didn’t listen to ourselves. Maybe we depended on another to tell us what to do instead of making a choice for ourselves. Maybe we didn’t listen to ourselves when it came to an idea or what it was, where we need to liberate from that dynamic. This can invoke these past experiences in order for us to tune in and to become more self-reliant when we act on what it is we are feeling and sensing (Taurus/Venus) we need to do.
Uranus also correlates to projected subconscious memories. With Venus rx ruling Uranus in Taurus we can come to understand how that plays out in our lives and how we are needing to throw that dynamic off through looking within and then taking accountability. This takes a conscious effort to objectify what we are sensing and the emotions arising when external events are triggered. To ask ourselves, “is this the truth of what is occurring or am I projecting a prior dynamic of the past onto the present because I am sensing it is the same?”.
VENUS RX IN ARIES (10°48′-0°0′):
With Venus retrograding within the sign of Aries, the emphasis is on actualizing Aries from within each of us. How this manifests will be different for each person because of where this transit falls in their own natal chart and what aspects it is making. This also includes your natal Mars (ruling transiting Venus) by house and sign, and the aspects it is making. We can also pull in the transiting Mars at the time of Venus retrograding. It will be direct in the sign of Cancer.
In a general sense while Venus is in Aries retrograde, we are called to revisit inner dynamics dealing with what we desire, our independence and freedom, our will, and for some anger. Aries and Mars also correlate to the choices we make stemming from the actions we take. This is interesting because Venus retrogrades in the sign of Aries. Prior to retrograde it will be direct in this sign. With Aries being a cardinal sign it speaks to the need to initiate something, but like with all Cardinal signs, it can be two steps forward and one step back. We initiate an action (Aries) and then insecurity can set in and we pump the breaks. This phenomenon can be doubled down by Venus stationing retrograde in the sign of Aries. If you inititate something during the time leading up to the retrograde, you might find that you are having to circle back around and deal with something resolved before more forward momentum can take place.
Venus in Aries retrograde can having us focus on what it is we are desiring and if there is anything getting in the way of acting on the instincts of what we desire. This can show up a few ways. This can be where we are revisiting dynamics where we are or have depended upon something external to help us go after what it is we want. The call is to actualize our will from within. It can also be teaching us about whether or not a desire is meant to be acted upon. It can pump the breaks on creating action or feeling like the action we are taking is getting us nowhere. When this happens, it is asking for us to improve upon desires that are meant to be taken, the choices around that, and giving us time for a clear path at a later date of how to move forwards responsibly.
Venus transiting this sign can also get us in touch with where we are needing to cultivate more independence. For some, this is where they can experience anger if they feel like that independence is being thwarted by an external source. Again, there is a lesson within this and Venus retrograde calls for us to objectify the “why”.
For others this is a time where they can have inner desires seeded into the consciousness about something they are meant to actualize. This can be through a desire to improve through purposeful work. It can be where you are wanting to act on something that you are passionate about. This retrograde gives you time to really tap into understanding how to go about this when Venus stations direct.
Venus in Aries retrograde can also have us focusing and learning on an internal level about our sexuality and our desires around our sexuality. If there is anything that has been repressed around this and what needs to be liberated from. It can also confront us with what desires are meant to be acted upon when dealing with our sexual values, needs, and desires.
Ultimately, throughout the Aries “hotspots” we are learning how to align our desire and will with our values. As Venus retrogrades back into Pisces, more of the total truth around these dynamics can be revealed in order to heal them and to connect more deeply with our natural and timeless values.
VENUS RX IN PISCES (29°59′-24°38′):
Venus will re-enter the sign of Pisces on March 26th or 27th, depending on where you are in the world. Whatever was seeded into our consciousness during January 28th-February 4th while Venus was first passing over these hotspots, might be revisited during this time.
This can revolve around the vision you saw for your future, the dreams that you were having, the ideals you were experiencing, or the emotional dynamics that were surfacing. Once Venus re-enters these degrees for the second time, it gives us a chance to improve upon them through objectivity and liberation.
When working with Venus in Pisces retrograde, we need to remember to look at where it falls in our own natal chart by house, the aspects it makes, and then to further investigate this by looking at our natal Neptune by location and its aspects. This will give you more context for what is coming up in order to revisit it and to resolve these dynamics dealing with the inner relationship to self.
There is an array of dynamics that can surface during this retrograde in the sign of Pisces. It’s important to remember that Pisces correlates to culmination and culmination of all of the archetypes held within the natural zodiac. The emphasis on how this is manifesting will be shown through your own natal chart and Neptune as mentioned above. It is also important to remember at this time that Venus will be ruled by transiting Neptune along with your own natal Neptune. Transiting Neptune is the North Node ruler and your natal Neptune is also facilitating the transit of the lunar North Node in Pisces. This pulls in the dynamic of reflecting to each one of us to tap into the higher octave of Venus at this time.
The other interesting dynamic about this retrograde cycle of Venus including its higher octave is that the lunar nodes just shifted at the beginning of January. Whatever dynamics were seeded into consciousness during the 18-month period of the lunar south node in Libra can be resurfacing to bring it all to culmination. This specifically corresponds with giving us an opportunity to make a new choice around whatever is coming up in order to improve upon our inner relationship to self, what we were coming to understand about our values and others during that time. What needs to finally be released in order to move forwards and how we can surrender.
If we didn’t deal with a dynamic during the south node being in Libra, we will end up coming face to face with it now. Re-living, re-experiencing, in order to resolve. For some this can be where we didn’t make the necessary choices within our relationships with others. If there was resistance because of our dependence upon them, this can now trigger disillusioning experiences in order to get us to improve upon our ideals, what ultimate meaning truly is, and to purge these past dynamics. This finally initiates getting us in touch with reality, truth, and the necessary actions to take. It also helps us to improve upon our values by dissolving old delusional values that stem from idealistic beliefs.
This dynamic can also happen if we were not dealing with what needed to be healed and created imbalances on inner emotional level. This can be where we need to release addictions and tap into our own inner healing. It can help us to revisit these dynamics in order to understand why we were wanting to escape and what we were trying to escape from.
For others who were taking the necessary actions during that time period, they can now have the experience of truly healing the past from within. Getting in touch with a new vision of what it is that they are wanting to improve upon in order to take the necessary steps to heal their inner relationship to self.
This can also be a time where through our inner listening we are called to start planting seeds of improvement in order to actualize what it is we are being called to do to help be of service through purposeful work. This is especially true if one has been cultivating a spiritual philosophy and path that aligns them with timeless values. It helps to dissolve further the old temporal values. It is where we can create a higher meaning through establishing a vision for a path for our future that helps to heal others through first healing ourselves. This comes from letting go and surrendering the past way of inwardly relating to ourselves.
This also can be a period where we connect to the inner divinity from within and truly learn how to self-actualize through ourselves, thus changing old ways of relating, valuing, believing, and what we give meaning to. It can truly create a different inner vibration that can then attract what it is we are needing in a way that cultivates equal giving and sharing with others. This is especially true for those who come to understand during this time that they might have been hiding who they were and now are being called to come out of hiding and to truly just be themselves.
We can also collectively and personally be revisiting how we feel social disillusionment. How we have felt personal disillusionment in the past. This is so we can tap into the pure emotion (intense emotions) in order to understand them, heal them, and to surrender. It also helps us to cultivate more compassion and empathy for ourselves and the collective. This revisiting of these experiences works to trigger within us how to cultivate a more spiritual relationship and to understand natural and timeless values. The key is to not get hung up on complaining without taking action, but to tap into our inner awareness of how to cultivate healing through understanding the truth and meeting it with compassion and grace.
As a bottom line through this retrograde of Venus in Pisces we can resolve old dynamics of escapism, distortions held within beleifs, and how to culminate and heal. This helps us to make new choices for the future. The vision we see for ourselves as we rebirth a new way to inwardly relate to ourselves. This will really be felt once Venus stations direct and then re-enters into Aries.
