OVERALL ARCHETYPE AND THEME OF THIS SOLAR ECLIPSE:

Solar Eclipse’s bring what is dubbed “a new karmic chapter” in Evolutionary Astrology. A new karmic beginning. This reflects the new moon occurring within 00°-12° of the lunar nodes to form a conjunction. This can be in the same sign or out of sign. In this case, this is an out of sign conjunction happening between the New Moon in Aquarius and the lunar North Node in Pisces. To me this out of sign new moon reflects a strong 6-month cycle where we are individually and collectively called to individuate (Aquarius) further. In brand new (New Moon/Solar Eclipse) ways of internalizing (Moon) these energies. Through internalizing the individuating impulse, we are able to have awareness of what it is that is needing to be rebelled against from within. It is through this inner rebellion of what is not resonating on a personal and collective Soul level that we then get to transcend (Pisces Lunar North Node) prior limitations. This means making new choices pertaining to the new impulses being seeded into our consciousness (Neptune in Aries, Mars in Aquarius).

To understand more deeply what new impulses could become conscious and what actions we are meant to take, we must look at the overall archetype of Aquarius (Eclipse), Virgo (Lunar SN), and Pisces (Lunar NN).

Aquarius is the liberator of the Soul in tandem with its ruler, Uranus. Where Capricorn/Saturn bring structure, reality, consequences, and crystallization. Aquarius/Uranus brings the busting up of what has reached a Plutonian and Evolutionary limitation. Where we become over-identified with a condition from the past that his reached its limit in the present, Aquarius and Uranus bring us freedom. The freedom comes through the Aquarius awareness linked with objectivity. Objectifying what is and isn’t working. What must be challenged within. What no longer is resonate with our unique Soul individuality. This is a fixed sign that demands each of us to NOT STAY STUCK. This is why this is the sign known to accelerate time and where we experience abrupt beginnings and endings. In a flash something has changed. What once was known, familiar, and secure is now gone. In the blink of an eye. Or, through the flash of insight.

Aquarius in its natural expression, is the inner rebel who defies the past in order to experience community from within. Where we each learn about our unique individuality and how it is a co-creative process with Source (Pisces). Where power (Pluto) is defined through our unique differences and where we can experience communal sharing. Community that has reverence for the beauty found in the Natural and Timeless Law (Pisces) of unity in diversity. This is experienced first through a natural transition (SN in Virgo) when we honor our individuality by bringing it into form through being of service to the whole (natural inconjunct between Aquarius and Virgo). We start to experience inner friendship in order to experience humanity as a larger friendship. This usually comes from experiencing crisis (Virgo) on a collective (Aquarius) level. Or on a personal level when we experience the crisis of our own individuality within the groups, communities, and friendships we form. It is through this dynamic that we discover ever deeper layers of our unique Soul self. Where we are called to improve and where we are called to liberate.

Through the expression of service to the whole, community, or group we then find higher purpose and meaning (Pisces). This means that often times liberation from the known (Aquarius) is experienced as falling into the abyss (Pisces). It is falling into this abyss that we learn grace, forgiveness, compassion, empathy, trust, and faith. Through this experience we change how we relate not just to ourselves but to the cosmic whole. We redefine through the boundary-less abyss new meaning, new values, new teachings, and new needs that are in alignment with the cosmic whole. It is through our own individuation process that we can experience spiritualizing in our most natural and unique way. A way that sometimes has nothing to do with the old conditions that say, “this is how you do it”. It is more of an inner whisper that screams silently, “this is the way for YOU”! This takes a lot of courage on a Soul level. This is usually because it is not something that we conceived as a possibility in the past because it wasn’t ever taught that it was an actual possibility. This is where faith and trust come in. Instead of falling into the abyss we now leap with faith into the abyss. We trust the process through sensing the potential yet delicately balancing the notion to liberate from expectations of what it will actually be. To know that sincerity and honesty are what counts. In the end, healing happens. Even in ways that were inconceivable in the past.

When these archetypes are not naturally expressed and are therefore experienced through the distortion there can be a fixed (Aquarius) rigidity. The fear of letting go equates to loss of power (Pluto/ Pisces/Neptune). Too much comfort in the “known” that is creating an evolutionary standstill. Crisis (Virgo) through a disillusioning (Pisces) experience can happen. A sudden and jarring (Aquarius) moment shakes up the Soul in order to confront it with the original intention of evolving. Deception of some sort is highlighted with this dynamic. This can be the Soul deceiving itself, deceiving others. or being deceived. This happens on personal and collective levels. This creates trauma (Aquarius). This points back to the need to improve and discern (Virgo). Then to liberate (Aquarius).

Oftentimes this is where collective trauma is experienced in order for improvement to occur. The improvement on a collective level happens when the group comes together in solidarity. It dismantles old structures in order to be the service and the change that it seeks. The evolutionary lesson is still that there is a higher purpose and meaning to everything. That unity in diversity is the way. This is because in the distorted expression of these signs, so often when they are linked together, there can be exclusion (Leo) of whole groups of people (Aquarius) and how they are being persecuted (Virgo). The bottom line on a collective level then becomes a need to not only liberate but to transcend through applying Natural and Timeless values (Pisces) that are based in giving, sharing, and inclusion of ALL.

For a long time across the globe, we as a global community have waited on authority figures and leaders to save us (Virgo/Pisces). Yet now we are experiencing through that choice, the consequences of depending on others. Giving our authority over to government structures and leadership figures. Now through the crisis we are confronting where we have collectively been indiscriminate. How we are now called to come together in our common humanity and co-create through community in order to improve (Virgo inconjunct Aquarius).

This leads into the ruler of the North Node, Neptune in Aries, now conjunct Saturn in Aries. The collective individuated unconscious (Uranus) is wanting to rebel against the old structures (Saturn) in order to initiate NEW structures (Saturn in Aries) that are in alignment with Timeless Laws (Neptune) as opposed to manmade (Saturn).

This solar eclipse marks a new evolutionary chapter of just this. Community coming together in the face of exclusion brought on by corruption and elitism. Both manmade. We are individually and collectively called to have the Aries courage to act, make a new choice, and start a new cycle that honors what is natural and timeless. To leap with faith into the abyss of the unknown. To humble (Virgo) ourselves that we don’t know what exactly this new evolutionary chapter is, but as long as we do it with sincere and honest intentions rooted in inclusion, equal giving, and sharing that the path with open. We can learn as we go, and maybe we might just recall something from the past that we are meant to reconnect with. The whisper from within each one of our Soul’s that sparks the idea of where we are meant to be of service in order to bring higher purpose and meaning to the whole.

ASTROLOGICAL CONVERSATIONS THAT BRING DEPTH TO THE ECLIPSE:

This eclipse is ruled by Uranus in Taurus which is now direct. Uranus is in a last quarter square with the eclipse. This reflects the need to create action through inner and external liberation. To take our individual inner resources (Taurus) and utilize them to bring change that we wish to see for not just ourselves but for the collective. Everything you have been learning about yourself since May of 2018 is meant to be actualized and fully integrated. This has to deal with how you relate to yourself, what you give meaning to, what you give value to, and how you are living that out in your own individual way.

Venus in Pisces rules Uranus. Venus is balsamic conjunct the lunar north node in Pisces. This is a repeating signature that signals that in order to experience the evolving self, we must apply what it is we have discovered. To fully integrate it into the here and now. This brings more visions, dreams, and awareness around what our next steps to take will be. With Neptune in Aries ruling Venus and the North Node, it doubles down on the signature to have faith and trust in ourselves. Through trusting ourselves we then can muster the courage to act. Remembering that courage isn’t the lack of fear, it is action in spite of fear. The old AA expression I have heard really fits the bill here, “faith without works is dead”. This also reflects making a new choice in the face of past emotional experiences (Virgo lunar South Node). In order to experience improvement and integration, action must be taken. One step at a time.

With Saturn now in Aries along with Neptune, action is also repeated again. We sense the new structure on the horizon. The possibility of what it could be, yet we have to make the choice to leap with faith (Neptune) into the unknown. Saturn is still balsamic to Neptune and won’t be in a new phase until the 20th. Both Saturn and Neptune are ruled by Mars in Aquarius. This reflects that we still are experiencing the remnants of the “known” (Saturn balsamic Neptune), yet in order for liberation (Aquarius) to occur, we have to commit to a desire and make it a goal. This will bring new inner knowledge to help us close up the chapter of the “known”. In its totality. Neptune. This will also continue to help the collective and each of us personally individuate. This comes through the experience of relating in a new way that then creates the new structures within our consciousness. These new structures can be defined by experiencing the inner community and friendship with Source. This is done through the co-creative process that is naturally unfolding for each of us. Learning how to experience and be okay with what feels like a loss of control on an inner level. This actually can help us to develop a deeper sense of our individuality through how we inwardly relate. This can inspire us to create change, and act on desires that are being seeded (Aquarius) into our consciousness. For some of us we can have spontaneous ideas erupt or even spontaneous memories of long ago past. Whatever comes into the consciousness at this time is going to pertain to some unfinished business of the past and the solution within it.

Mercury in Pisces separating from the lunar north node, rules the lunar south node and Lucifer rx. Mercury is in a last quarter trine to Jupiter in Cancer rx. Jupiter is ruled by this lunation. To me this reflects a clarification about what solutions can be applied to the here and now. Lucifer rx in Virgo can become the bearer of light on a personal level when we pay objective attention to our thoughts and inner messages. Yet the hangup can be self-doubt that is magnified. If we utilize this in a constructive way we can understand what belief structures from within are needing to be rebelled against. This clears the static of the mind and helps us to tap into our instinct and intuition. Then it becomes about creating action in the face of self-doubt. This is a test not only of self-determination but of faith linked with our own authentic and natural path. When acted upon under these energies we each can develop a deeper level of inner security. The type of inner security only found within and with Source. That can be easier said than done. Paying attention to dreams, external messages, and conversations had over the next two weeks can bring the type of clarity we each have been asking and/or praying for.

Lilith is in Aries, ruled by Mars in Aquarius, and sextile Pluto in Aquarius. This is a crescent phase sextile. It is within this phase that we experience the potential and gain clarity about what next steps and new choices we need to make in order to move forwards. With Lilith in Aries and ruled by Mars in Aquarius we are called to liberate from destructive anger. Anger that is impulsive or anger that creates paralysis through fear. This asks for us to be responsible with our actions, to face fear with courage, and to set a goal that is aligned with our unique path. To honor that path. Fully. Lilith in this placement and in this aspect with Pluto helps us to understand the sacred rage within stemming from past trauma and distortions. To utilize the sacred rage in order to create change and liberation. To heal. To evolve. To continue to move forward. Lilith is where we reconnect with our natural and sacred root at the Soul level. Here we can have deep insight and clarity into what our next steps to take on our Soul journey are. She gives us courage from within our Soul (Pluto) to beat to the inner drummer that honors or individuality. To be a group of one if necessary. That through that action we eventually find our Soul tribe. Even in the face of destruction around us. Or in the face of our own inner shadow. Yet through facing the inner shadow we get to make a choice. The Soul gets the option to consent to what it chooses in order to experience freedom instead of the unknown running the show without us knowing. This conversation between Lilith and Pluto is a choice point on our evolutionary journey. To be your own inner warrior of re-connection with your Soul root and path. She demands you to not submit but to spark your own fire and to blaze on! To remain whole unto yourself, not someone else, not your past, but to yourself!

Lastly, we need to remember that Lilith is in a new phase with Neptune. Through action, spiritual courage, and discernment of desires we do create new states of awareness and becoming. This creates new foundations worth standing on. The rising out of the underworld and the courage to initiate through applied wisdom that has been hard earned, fought, and won.

RITUAL WORK FOR THE ECLIPSE:

There are opposing views on whether or not to implement ritual during eclipses. In my experience, Solar Eclipses can be very powerful to work with. The key is to have reverence and sincerity when working with any lunation. With Nature Herself, in general. The bottom line is do what feels right for yourself. Listen to yourself and take what I say as suggestion and not the end all be all. You know you better than anyone else. Trust that! It is also worth disclosing that anything I give my opinion on regarding the transits or ritual work should not be a replacement for mental health or health care in general. Take what resonates and leave the rest. Always consult with a licensed medical provider before ingesting or working with plants.

• Green Flourite: helps to ground and connect with the Earth (Uranus in Taurus) especially if there is frenetic energy internally. It also helps to connect with Nature in general. It is also associated with the heart chakra, helping to heal and clear old wounds.
• Rainbow Flourite: also helps to ground while helping to connect and expand spiritually ( Pisces/Uranus in Taurus)
• Labradite: is associated with Neptune and the Moon. It also is associated as a stone of protection. It is connected to courage, intuition, and strength (the Aries energy)
• Celestite: associated with emotional healing, chakra activation and clearing, and helps to connect with messages during prayer, meditation, and dreaming (Neptune and Pisces)

• Balm of Gilead: connected to Venus and the element of water. It is a powerful plant to use for manifestation, protection, healing, and clearing. Can be burned and used as an incense. It is also great for making salves.
• Lemon Balm: connected to the Moon and the element of water. It is great to utilize for self-love and healing. It also is calming when used as a tea.
• Mint: associated with Mercury and the element of Air. It brings healing qualities to the throat chakra, especially if there is fear around speaking. It can be used as a tea to help soothe the throat and irritation from nervousness within the stomach.
• Dragon’s Blood: associated with Mars and the fire element. It amplified the potency of other plants by burning this resin. It is also known to be protective and drives out negativity.
• Lavender: Associated with the element of air. It soothes, calms, and cleanses. It is nurturing. Can be used in a bath, as a tea, or as incense.

CONNECTING NATURALLY WITH THIS ECLIPSE:

Aquarius and Uranus are both associated with manifestation. New Moons are also associated with manifesting. This eclipse speak to the power of the mind, specifically the higher mind and our higher intelligence connected to the co-creative principle held within Source. This eclipse would be great for working on what you want to see change and evolve in your life and collectively. To write it down. To ask for guidance to be revealed to you in such a way that you can’t deny (Virgo) and the courage to act on it (Neptune in Aries). Mars is separating from Pluto, and this makes it a great time to clarify goals and to set intentions on how to go about actualizing those goals.

Aquarius and Uranus are also about liberation and freedom from the known. This is a great time to write down what you want to liberate from, but first what you need to understand about that dynamic that maybe you need more clarification around.

Because this eclipse also highlights community, writing down an action plan as to what you can provide and share within your community. How to go about doing that. Then execute it. Asking for the deeper clarity around what is actually needed. Then connecting with that.

Visualizing is also a great technique to utilize during this eclipse. There is science that backs how visualizing can help to rewire our brains, especially when there has been trauma and we are always expecting something bad to happen. In my experience and opinion, the best way to go about this is to visualize something that you really want to experience and to visualize it where there are only joy, happiness, and bliss. When you visualize something, it actually brings it into the present moment. This helps to rewire the brain by cultivating safety. Over time this retrains the brain to not expect something negative to happen before it happens. It rewires the brain to be able receive the experience in a positive way when it does happen. Instead of momentarily experiencing joy in the moment, it helps cultivate staying present within the experience of joy.

This is also a great lunation to take a bath. Make your own bath salts. Get two cups of Epsom salts and mix with herbs that connect with this lunation that are safe. Lavender, chamomile, and tea tree all come to mind. As you mix your own bath salts set an intention for the next six months. As you soak in your intention during your bath consciously stay present with the fact that you are nurturing yourself. Make sure to rinse yourself off before stepping into the bath so that way you remove any unwanted energies from the day.

Before bed drink chamomile tea with honey and vanilla. Keep a journal beside your bed with a pen. Before you go to sleep make sure your last thought is a question that you want an answer to. Upon waking up, make sure you write down what it is that you remember from your dream. Even if it doesn’t make sense now, come back in six months and read it again.

Make an amulet for this Solar Eclipse. Gather stones connected to this eclipse and charge them the night before and the night of the eclipse. Make sure to set an intention beforehand.
