Scorpio New Moon 2023

New Moon’s often bring up new emotional dynamics that are meant to be worked with in order to continue to perpetuate our evolution on a Soul level. They are most potent for those when the New Moon is in direct aspect to their own natal chart. For this New Moon those with anything at 20° Scorpio, or any of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Aquarius) give or take a few degrees it will likely be felt strongest. For others who are sensitive to energies especially during the moon phases this can unearth dynamics that are wanting to be revealed, as well. I want to take the time to talk about the Scorpio archetype before I dive into and break down the New Moon’s astrology.

Scorpio correlates to the Soul and Evolution, it is naturally ruled by the planet Pluto. Scorpio and Pluto like to expose and confront in order for evolution to proceed, whether or not we are wanting to consciously work with it. Evolution proceeds no matter what. I often think of Scorpio as Libra on crack. It brings up all sorts of relational dynamics but more intensely. Within Libra we get to compare and contrast to understand who we are as opposed to who we are not through comparison and contrast of others. “Oh, this person does things this way, but I do them in a different way”, simply put. In Scorpio we come face to face with our own limitations of WHO WE ARE as opposed to who we are not and cannot be. This archetype shows us all of the facets that make us unique and how we orientate to life through our own unique nature (natural square to Leo). Through this nature of who we each are we then get to confront life and the dynamics through limitations and what JWG spoke to as our own individual parameters. Most often these parameters are of a psychological and emotional nature but can also be physical and spiritual. What one would do in a relationship can be very different from another, what we realize we cannot do that another can, this is Scorpio.

Scorpio gets us in touch with what constitutes our emotional security, and the psychology behind our motivations to either propel forward (evolve) or to stay the same out of the ‘known and familiar’ (security). Within the archetype of Scorpio, we can experience confrontations dealing with the dynamics of where we are staying stagnant because of the limitations and then the need to analyze just what those are in order to move forwards. This can be rough for some, especially as human’s because we like the known and the familiar. Scorpio is constantly challenging this dynamic. This is why Scorpio can deal with power and powerlessness. We feel power and comfort in who we are and what we know, on the contrary we experience powerlessness in what we do not know or what we have not experienced yet. This is also why within this particular archetype we can experience all types of dynamics that confront this within us, sometimes through situations of loss, betrayal, and abandonment at the hands of other’s own hidden agendas and motivations. This correlates with the phenomenon of manipulation. On the flip side, it can get us in touch with why we betray and abandon others. Or why we do what we do in order to be with someone. It can get us in touch with our own hidden motivations and manipulations, usually stemming from the polarity of Scorpio, Taurus, which is about survival. An example of this is entrapment, which is very scorpionic. Some entrap others in various ways as a way to survive and vice versa.

Another part of the Scorpio archetype is about osmosis and merging with another. When we get into relationships it is usually because someone has something that we don’t already have, and we want to learn about it or confront that own dynamic within ourselves. This is so we can metamorphose those inner dynamics through experiencing our own limitations as to who we are and who we cannot be. When we come to understand our own limitations, we can’t just sit back and stop, we have to move forward, thus Scorpio deals with evolution and the evolutionary impulse within each one of us. We can also osmose or merge with other sources of power in order to experience our own limitations around that which is more powerful or larger than ourselves on an external level. This is why within Scorpio we can be attracted to the taboo and other esoteric modalities as a way to metamorphose our own inner limitations. This can be through astrology, tarot, sex, rituals, death, money, status, a body of knowledge, or any type of symbol that represents power that we don’t already have to each one of us on an individual level. Through the merging with something we deem as power we then get to confront our own inner limitations and fuse with what we are merging with as a way to gain inner power in a different way than before. As an example, before astrology I was in traditional therapy and worked in mental health. It reached a limit and I wanted to continue to evolve and that just wasn’t helping anymore. I eventually found evolutionary astrology and merged with the teachings of it in order to transcend the limitations and parameters within myself that I couldn’t while in traditional therapy.

This is also why Scorpio can be about our most intimate relationships of where we have merged with another whether that be sexually, physically, through marriage, or the merging of resources. Through this merging process we get to experience our own inner limitations and then metamorphose and evolve through the lessons that occur within the dynamic of merging. We also get to learn the lesson regarding discernment of whom to trust, whom not to trust, and whom to be sexual with and whom not to. The last thing I want to mention about the archetype of Scorpio before I move into the New Moon and its astrology is the dynamic of obsession and compulsion. We can become obsessed with that which we aren’t and what we want to become. This can manifest in a variety of different ways, sometimes positive and other times negative. Again, this is where discernment and the willingness to psychoanalyze ourselves comes into play within this archetype. This is because when we experience these types of dynamics that I have mentioned above, it pulls in the polarity of Scorpio, Taurus. Taurus is about our relationship to ourselves, how to be self-reliant, and self-esteem. Within the archetype of Taurus, we foster our relationship to self by understanding what our own values and needs are, and then meeting those needs for ourselves (self-reliance). This allows us to tap into our own natural resources from within in order to do so. This takes a conscious effort to listen to our inner voice and to understand our feelings. This helps us to survive, another dynamic of Taurus. These two signs push and pull. When we don’t have balance and harmony with our relationship to self, we can seek out all types of relationships where we want to merge in order to feel power. When we are not relying on ourselves, we can be confronted with limitations around that dynamic, and the opposite is true. For some they need to learn how to be with others through merging but on an equal basis. This can be because when we just concentrate on ourselves, eventually evolution becomes stagnant and in order to transcend that limitation we must confront our inner limitations through being with another or merging with an external source of some kind. Through this ebb and flow of Scorpio and Taurus we learn how to transform our limitations on external and internal levels that then help us to release and liberate from the old limitations. This is also why Scorpio is connected to the death and rebirth cycles. Through cycles of involuting it creates the necessary confrontations that then help us to eliminate old parameters and limitations within, perpetuating the death of the old way of being and the rebirth of the new way of being. On a deeper level this also corresponds with reincarnation.

The reason I bring up all of this is because it is important to understand this archetype on a deeper level in order to fully grasp what this new moon could and can be bringing up right now. On a collective level this will be bringing up all types of power dynamics within the government and social systems in order to confront the limitations within them. This is seen with the ruler of this New Moon being Pluto in the sign of Capricorn. Capricorn on a collective level represents our social systems, social norms, rules, and regulations. The parameters within our social systems and governments. This is also why we have been seeing the breakdown of these social and government systems and structures since Pluto entered the sign of Capricorn in 2008. We can also think about how Pluto’s facilitator, Saturn is transiting through the sign of Pisces. This correlates to the dissolving of manmade structures and the culmination of these dynamics in order for new structures to be birthed. Lastly on a collective level we have had Pluto square the Nodal Axis for quite some time now. With the South Node in Libra and square to Pluto in Capricorn we have been seeing the imbalances within our social structures be highlighted a great deal in order for the dissolving process to take shape. This means we have seen more intensely imbalances within religion, governments, and societies. These imbalances have dealt with civil rights issues, gender, equality, nationalism, the misuse of natural resources, global warming, oppression and the list goes on. These all have to deal with Capricorn. I am going to breakdown the astrology of this new moon on a more personal level for us, so we can understand how to work with these energies on a personal level, but just remember that all of this can be seen on a collective level even with me explaining it through the personal lens. I am also posting the chart below for those who like to look at it.

On Monday the 13th of November, the moon will conjunct the Sun at 20° 44′ Scorpio at 3:27 am CST. The moon joining the Sun in this way reflects the New Moon. The New Moon reflects a new cycle of growth wanting to be birthed. It also reflects the dynamic of creative actual purpose through understanding our emotional dynamics, “who am I?”. This happens through emotional dynamics surfacing in order to work with them. To make new choices revolving them. With this New Moon in the sign of Scorpio we are looking at emotional dynamics that have to deal with not only confronting our own inner psychological and emotional limitations, but also, our desires. This is dealing with emotional dynamics that are about our security and security needs. How we have gone about gaining security and as a consequence power, whether negative or positive in nature. Whether or not that needs to change and what is stagnating within. What our motivations are and how we go about enacting what we desire right now in order to evolve. All of the above dynamics mentioned when I went over the archetype of Scorpio can be surfacing during this time period.

The ruler of this new moon is Pluto in Capricorn at 28°. This also gives us a clue as to what we are wanting to work on and what can be surfacing on an emotional and psychological level. The inner and external confrontations that could be happening in order to transcend personal limitations of an emotional and psychological nature. Pluto in Capricorn on a personal level has to deal with how we establish our own individuality and inner authority within society and our individual family structures. For some who are partnered it can be the extended family through marriage. This can also be about the ways in which we are conditioned through family, religion, philosophies, society, and culturally and how that has affected each one of us on an individual level. How this external authority has imprinted on us and the psychology it has produced. The emotional dynamics that stem from this conditioning and the confrontation around our limitations regarding this. Confrontations can happen around learning how to be an individual outside of what we have known or to express and integrate individuality, their own inner natural authority. How to work with other sources of authority while staying true to your own nature. Confrontations around discipline and self-determination, how to emotionally mature and reflect to gain wisdom through direct experience. With Pluto in Capricorn ruling this New Moon, emotional areas of where we have resisted, suppressed, or where repression has been occurring can surface as a way to finally deal with the emotional dynamics that need to be confronted right now. Self-judgment and judgment of others is another confrontation that can come up as a way to reflect on why and to transcend those limitations. The other area that this can manifest is on a psychological and emotional level, if and where we have been giving our authority over to someone else instead of meeting our own needs as a way to be self-reliant. On the flip side this is where we can be imposing our authority on another for them to have to depend on us.

We need to remember that Pluto is still technically square to the nodal axis and there is a need to look at where imbalances have been created through all of these dynamics, that way, we can each on an individual level eliminate these areas that are creating disharmony. With the south node being ruled by Venus in Libra and Pluto ruled by Saturn in Pisces, we are confronting the boundaries and structures within that have to deal with our relational dynamics and our ideals revolving around them. Where we have felt disillusionment from inequality, felt injustices or how we have needed to learn to listen to another and vice versa. There can be areas of comparison coming up in order for us to understand our individuality right now.

The New Moon is opposing Uranus retrograde in Taurus. This is a gibbous phase opposition. The gibbous phase is transitionary and creates and induces humility. Humility then creates necessary self-adjustment. This self-adjustment helps us to transition into the next phase. With the Moon in a gibbous opposition to Uranus in Taurus we can be dealing with the need to confront the limitations that have occurred stemming from trauma and how that has affected our self-esteem and self-worth. This trauma can correlate to abandonment, loss, and betrayal and the emotional dynamics that need to be observed within ourselves stemming from these types of traumatic events. How these events not only affect our self-esteem but also how we go about getting our needs met and our own sense of inner authority. There can be lessons in discerning if we are projecting the past onto the present moment stemming from fear from old traumatic events. Confrontations around where we feel jaded stemming from these dynamics and how it could have affected our ability to discern who to trust and who not to. Who to be in relationship with or who not to. Because Uranus is retrograde these are areas that are recycling in order to resolve the dynamics that our erupting or re-surfacing now on a psychological and emotional level. With all oppositions there is a need to oppose some inner dynamic that has reached a limitation and needs to be thrown off. Are you scared to be in relationships with others because of your past? Are you scared to trust yourself? Are you able to discern who to commit to or are you projecting the past onto those you come in contact with? Are you partnering with compatible people or are you checking social boxes? What are your values in partnerships? With Uranus ruled by Venus in Libra this can indicate a need to initiate all different types of relationships right now as a way to confront these dynamics and self-adjust. To learn more about oneself instead of staying fixed in the here and now. There can be confrontations with Venus in Libra not only regarding relational imbalances but also, understanding when one is socially interacting too much or socially isolating too much. With Uranus and Jupiter both ruled by Venus in Libra the key is to listen to the inner voice, trust your intuition, and observe yourself as a way to transform these dynamics. When we learn how to listen to ourselves and meet our own individual needs, we can then understand how to truly listen to another and what they are needing. Then we can understand when to give and when not to give in our relationships as a way to create harmony. The New Moon is also in a balsamic conjunction with Mars in the sign of Scorpio at 22°, also opposing Uranus but in a full phase opposition. With the new moon conjunct Mars and both being ruled by Pluto in Capricorn we can be understanding what our soul is desiring to do right now as a way to propel evolution. Discernment around reaction versus responsive is key. There are old desires that are wanting to be culminated and released and new desires wanting to be known in order to propel evolution and help us gain momentum through this new cycle the new moon is representing. This can deal with how we desire to be seen in the world, how we desire to individuate from the conditioning we have grown too familiar with, and it has reached its own limitations. With Mars opposing Uranus in Taurus in a full phase we can be able to discern how to go about actualizing what desires and which ones to put to bed so to speak, this is done through objectifying whether or not they are in alignment with our values and integrity. Desires around initiating relationships and culminating others can surface. Mars also represents our choice making through what we desire. It is important to pay attention to whether we are repelled by someone or not and to listen to that within ourselves. This has the potential to release and liberate us from old karmic dynamics that involve old choices made through old desires. Another dynamic that can be surfacing with this is learning more self-reliance in order to attract the right type of people and relationships. This comes from understanding how that manifested in the past for us and the wisdom that was created from the direct experience from the past. This is a new moon that wants us to reflect on the old so that we can understand how to make correct choices and correct judgment around what we desire and who and how we desire to be with others. These confrontations can transcend prior limitations and help us to transform our relationship to self and our inner vibration and magnetism in order to attract our tribe or right partners/relationships. This also symbolizes a need to throw off our fear around desires that emanate from within and repeat in our thoughts at this time. If an idea is repeating out of nowhere in your mind, this can be a green light to act on it.

The asteroid Kaali is in a balsamic conjunction with Venus in the sign of Libra. Kaali represents the dark mother, meaning she represents the nurturing qualities that can happen when we face the dark or shadow parts of ourselves. She holds shamanness qualities that are directly linked to keen wisdom. She is one facet of the Great Mother. Nurturing and benevolent but fierce with her keen insight. She helps us strip away what is creating stagnation within and she has a Pluto like feel to her. With Kaali conjunct Venus right now, and Venus the ruler of the lunar south node in Libra and Uranus and Jupiter in Taurus we have the ability during this new moon to receive the keen insight that is needed as we confront different facets of ourselves right now. Kaali can nurture the principle of giving, sharing, and inclusion within as she strips away the imbalances that we become aware of that are preventing us from knowing equality, harmony, and balance. If there are dynamics of projected expectations, enmeshment, codependencies, and a need to either retreat or go out into the world we can come to understand and receive wisdom regarding the bottom line, and “why” we are dealing with these dynamics. This means understand why they are occurring and where we learned or how we learned to operate in these ways that prevent balance and equality. Because Kaali is in a balsamic conjunction with Venus there is a culmination of the dynamics that is wanting to occur, and Kaali here helps us to come into awareness about the dynamics so they can culminate. Kaali is also bringing in the energy of Jupiter and Uranus because she is conjunct their ruler, Venus. Here she helps us to understand our natural truths, the beliefs preventing us from knowing ourselves in a natural sense, how trauma has affected us and what old values, needs, and aspects we have overly identified with that need to be liberated from right now. This helps us to come back into harmony and balance through the awareness that can happen with Kaali conjunct Venus. She helps us to be fierce in releasing these dynamics as the awareness occurs through the confrontations of the limitations that these dynamics represent.

Venus and Kaali are also in a crescent phase sextile to Mercury in the sign of Sagittarius. Mercury is ruled by Jupiter retrograde in the sign of Taurus at 9°. Mercury in Sagittarius wants us to expand upon our knowledge and messages we are receiving. With Jupiter in Taurus as the ruler of Mercury this can revolve around how old beliefs, cultural and philosophic conditions have affected our inner relationship to self. Mercury wants us to circle back around to these dynamics in order to understand what feels true for us and what feels untrue. With the crescent phase sextile between Venus, Kaali, and Mercury we can be looking at the need to expand upon the messages we receive through contrasting and comparing what is true for another and what other’s beliefs are. If they align with our own or if there are imbalances that are being created on an intellectual level from old knowledge and messages, we received. Here Kaali cuts away these dynamics and old intellectual wounds that affected our ability to be self-reliant and to enter into relationships of all sorts that are based on equality, giving, sharing, and inclusion. This knowledge that is gained can be easily integrated in order for us to ground into ourselves and to create more harmonious relationships. This information also helps us to redefine how we have done relationships before and to align with more natural laws around partnerships of all types of varieties.

Lilith the asteroid goddess that represents our most primal and natural state of being, the root of our natural selves, is in the sign of Scorpio and in a gibbous opposition to Mercury’s ruler, Jupiter. This reflects the need to oppose and throw off old dynamics that have kept us from understanding our sovereignty and how we stay whole unto ourselves, even in relationships. This is another transitionary phase that is wanting us to confront our limitations around why we have bought into the notion and illusion that we aren’t sovereign. Lilith in the myth refused to lay beneath and submit to Adam. This represents the patriarchy and also the conditioning around how women and men should be in relationships with each other stemming from patriarchal conditioning. With the opposition to Jupiter in Taurus we are looking at these patriarchal beliefs that affected our relationship to ourselves, our self-esteem, and our ability to be self-reliant. How dependencies are created through this type of conditioning and where we have submitted to these beliefs. There can be old dynamics or experiences reoccurring or resurfacing dealing with this in order to resolve these dynamics. Lilith in Scorpio is “no bullshit”, here she can help us understand our anger and rage around where we have abandoned ourselves and submitted instead of staying whole unto ourselves. Where we have felt injustices in our relationships when we didn’t feel heard or treated equally. Where people’s projected beliefs about us affected our inner worth and security, and ability to be in healthy partnerships or to discern them. This anger points to the underlying core beliefs about us that were created when these prior events occurred. This transitionary phase wants us to go deep within and to remember who we are and our original nature. This original nature is individualistic to each one of us and the information we gain during this new moon could help us to understand our original nature, especially if we submitted to a belief or a relationship that had us abandon ourselves in the past. Lilith here helps us to go deep and to expose all of this in order to create self-reliance and to regain healthy self-esteem if that has been affected. This then helps us to later on attract others who are in alignment with our values and who are compatible. These confrontations can help us to metamorphose the limitations from the past and to enter into balanced relationships in the future where there is mutual self-reliance.

Saturn at 0° Pisces is in a last square to Mercury in Sagittarius. With Saturn wanting us to culminate and dissolve in the sign of Pisces, we are looking at how we have structured reality. How the structuring of reality that occurs through our social and familial conditioning has affected us. There is a need to dissolve manmade structures that aren’t in alignment with who we are on an individual level. The dissolving of these helps us to restructure how we view reality. With the last quarter square to Mercury in Sagittarius we are called to restructure through expanding upon natural and universal principles as opposed to manmade laws. How we can dissolve old ways of understanding ourselves through having the willingness to learn about our natural truths. What feels right to each one of us. This can be about learning new philosophies in order to do this. To ask questions and to ponder about how we have defined and structured reality. How this has affected our inner relationship and our outer relationships. With the last quarter square there can be tension around what to believe and to hang onto the old beliefs because they are known and familiar. This is not a time to do that, but to have the willingness to seek new information and to seek our personal truths, whatever they may be.

The ruler of Saturn is Neptune in Pisces and Neptune is in a disseminating trine to the New Moon. As we expand upon knowledge and confront the old limitations, we have the ability to heal. This is represented by Neptune. These confrontations can also help us to release old temporal values and understand more natural and universal ones. This then gives creative purpose to our evolutionary journey. We get to learn about ourselves and our individual and unique nature. One of the keys to unlocking this is self-forgiveness of the past. Whatever we are confronted with on this New Moon and the next two weeks we need to make sure we are forgiving ourselves and surrendering to this process of healing. This also can help us to feel very connected to Source, fostering a deeper relationship to Source, and keeping the inner faith alive!

Happy New Moon!

Much Love and Gratitude,

Jordyn
